Creative license in writing

E.E. Cummings' Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town certainly made use of pronouns that made the poem a little confusing but such are some pieces of literature and poetry. That is the writer's creative license and you have to respect their style, their thoughts, their talent. Here, the rule of writing will tell you that there are no rules, only emotions, talent and self-expression.

There are lots of other confusing poems or even songs. The key here is to get the essence of these masterpieces and to analyze them for better understanding.

Poetry after death

E.E Cummings was a literary genius, and as most people know, more appreciated for his work after death than before.

But isn't that the way the world goes? Like his poem Anyone in Pretty How Town suggests, death is the great divider from reality to fiction, and after death, an individual can become anyone to those who are left behind.

Their works are left behind to be interpreted and the interpretations can nevermore be contradicted for the original author.

Thus each reader or critic, can make the author out to be whoever they want, and thus find themselves in the author's work.
